Traditions Assignment
Students are asked to bring a small item to represent a tradition you have at your home. The item should be small enough to fit in a brown lunch bag. Please use the worksheet provided for your student to write a paragraph about your tradition. We will share our Traditions on your child’s assigned Show & Tell day the week of December 17-21. Some examples of items to bring to class can be an ornament, cookie cutter, baked good, photograph, music, toy, book, etc.
Holiday Shop
Our class will be visiting the Manatee Holiday Shop on Monday, Dec. 10. If your student would like to purchase items, please send in money with them. There will be volunteers in the shop to help the students shop.

First grade will be putting on a winter performance on Thursday, December 6 at 6 pm. Please have your child wear "fancy holiday clothes" for the show. Your child will need to bring a pair of sunglasses. Please arrive at the Manatee Elementary cafeteria by 5:45 pm on the show night.
Box Top Collection
Manatee is collecting box tops. On Monday, I will be sending home box top collection sheets.
Next Week In Reading
Phonics/Phonemic Awareness: long a, (a_e), soft c, soft g, dge
Comprehension: using pictures and details in a story to describe the character, setting, and events
Grammar: verbs and time
Spelling Words: came, late, make, gave, brave, shape
FRY Words: could, people, my, than, first
Vocabulary: habitat, mainly, search, howl, stems, cactus *These are not on spelling test
Next Week In Math
We will be learning how to add three addends. We will be utilizing many of the addition strategies previously learned (sums of 10, doubles, near doubles).

Monday- Put spelling and FRY words in ABC order
Tuesday- Word Problem
Wednesday- Read our weekly story, The Big Race
Thursday- Word problem
