Report Cards
Report cards are coming home today in yellow folders. Please take out all papers from the envelope. Please sign the envelope in the 1st nine weeks box and return the envelope to me in yellow folders. You may keep the papers inside the envelopes.
Book Fair
Our class will be shopping at the book fair Monday, October 21 at 8:10 am. If you would like to come shop with your child, please sign in at the front office and meet us in the media center. If you cannot be there to shop you can also send in money and volunteers will be available to help your child shop.
Conference Night
Conference night is Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5-7 pm. If you would like to schedule a conference, please email me. Priority will be given to those parents I have not yet met with.
Field Trip
First grade will be going on a field trip to the Titusville Playhouse on Wednesday, December 4 to see The Happy Elf. Coming home in folders today is field trip information and permission slips. The cost is $9 per student. Please return the form with payment by Friday, Oct 25. If you would like to chaperone, please email me. Only 4 chaperones can attend. Once I get names of those who would like to go I will draw names and send an email letting you know that you have been selected. Please do not send in chaperone payment until you have been notified of selection.

Wednesday- wear a team jersey
Thursday- wear neon and sunglasses
Friday- wear a hat
Timeline Project
To go along with our curriculum in Social Studies, we are asking parents to work with their child to develop a time line of their life. Students can use photos or draw pictures to go along with their time line. Please have your child write a short description of the picture. Please turn in the timeline on or before October 28th . Students will be sharing their timeline with the class as their Show & Tell that week. This assignment will be a Social Studies & Communication grade. While we thank you for your help with this project, please make sure the project reflects your child’s work and creativity.e

Vocabulary: yanking, awake, trip, try, twice, wonder *these are enrichment words and are not on the spelling test.
Next Week In Math
This week we will be working on subtraction. We will be learning the think addition strategy. Student will learn that in order to subtract numbers like 9-4 they can solve for the missing part by adding. For example for solving 9-4= ___, they would think addition by working the problem backwards and asking ___ +4=9.
